Old Sewing Machine (පරණ මහන මැෂිම)

This is very old sewing machine. I saw it from antique shop in Kaduwela, Sri Lanka.

මහන මැෂින් දැක්කට මෙහෙම එකක් දැකල තියනවද? මෙකත් ඒ කාලේ හොන්දට වැඩ ගත්තු එකක් වෙන්න ඇති, හැබැයි දැන්නම් පැන්ෂන්.මේක යකඩ වලට නොවික්කට පින්. නොදැක්ක අයටත් පෙන්නන්න. මම දැක්කේ කඩුවෙල මගෙ යාළුවෙක්ගෙ ඇන්ටික් බඩු කඩේකින්.

මේ පින්තූර ඔබ මින් පෙර දැකතිබෙනවාද? Have you seen these pictures before ?

මා මෙම ජායාරූපය ගත්තේ මීට වසර තුනකට පමණ පෙර කැළණි විහාරයේ තිබූ රාමුකරන ලද  පින්තූරයකිනි. එය ඒ වන විටත් විනාශයට යමින් තිබුනි. එහි පහලින් සදහන්ව තිබුනේ මෙය මෙයට දශක කිහිපයකට පෙර (මාගේ මතකයේ හැටියට 1960 දශකයේ)ගුවන් නියමුවෙකු විසින් උඩු ගුවනේ දුටු දසුනක ලබාගත් ජායාරූපයක් බවයි.
Have you seen these pictures before? I found it from Kelaniya temple, Sri Lanka. Footer of the picture say that has taken by a pilot on the air. He have seen some one is going on dragon. Any body know about this?

අර්ශස්වලින් ඔබත් දුක් විදිනවාද?

ආරෝග්‍යා පරමාලාභා, බුදුන් වහන්සේ දේශනා කලේ නිරෝගිකම උතුමිම සැපත බවයි. නමුත් අප සියලුදෙනාම කුමන හෝ රෝගයකින් පීඩා විදින්නෙමු. අර්ෂස් යනු මාරාන්තික නොවුවත් අප බොහෝ දෙනෙකු පීඩා විදින වේදනාකාරී රෝගයකි.
මා දන්නා තරමට මෙම රෝගයේ මූලාරම්භය වන්නේ කුඩා කල සිටම නිසි වේලාවට වැසිකිළි නොයෑමයි.
මාගේ මව මෙම රෝගයෙන් පිඩා විදි අයුරු මා කුඩා කල සිටම දුටුවෙමි.වැසිකිළි යාමෙන් පසු කොච්චි ගෑවුන ලෙසින් දැවිල්ල ඇතිවේ. එය බොහෝ වේලාවක් පවතී. කලක් යන විට රුධිර වහනය වීමද වේ.
මාගේ මවට සැත්කමක් සිදුකලේ කුරුණෑගල ඉතා පලපුරුදු වෛද්‍යවරයෙකු වන ආබෘ දොස්තර මහතා විසිනි. ඉන්පසු ඇය වසර කිහිපයක් සුවෙන් සිටියාය. වසර 5කට පමණ පසු නැවත රෝගය මතුවිය.
ඉන්පසු ඇයට පිහිටවුයේ අපගේ අල්ලපු ගමේ සිටි වයසක අච්චි අම්මා කෙනෙකි. අම්මා සමග මම ද එහි ගියෙමි. ඇය යම් බෙහෙත් ගුලියක් සාදා රෝගියා ඒ මත වාඩි වීමට සලස්වයි. විනාඩි 5ක් ඒමත සිටිය යුතුවේ. බෙහෙත එපමනකි. මාගේ මවද එමගින් ලැබු සුවය පිලිබද පුදුමය.
දස දහස් ලක්ෂ ගනන් මුදල් වියදමි කර බෙහෙත් කරන රෝගයකට සිංහල වෙදකම එපමනකි. පහත ජායාරූපයේ සිටින්නේ එම ඉසිවරියයි. ඇය ජීවත් වන්නේ කුරුණෑගල , හිරිපිටිය ප්‍රදේශයේ පොන්නිලට ග්‍රාමයේ වැව අසලය.සමහර විට ඇය ද සමග මෙම ප්‍රතිකාර ක්‍රමයද අභාවයට යනු ඇත.
ඹබගේ දැනගැනීම පිණිස මා දන්නා අත් බෙහෙතක් ද සදහන් කරමි. දෙලුම් ලෙලි තම්බා පානය කිරීමෙන් ද සහනයක් ලබාගත හැකිය.

Sekkuwa (සෙක්කුව)

Have you seen some thing like this before. This called Sekkuwa. It was the old oil mill in Sri Lanka. It has craft using a single stone. There is a tail part under ground and it is longer than what we can see on the ground.
I found this while i am travelling throuth Ibmulgoda Weliweriya road, Gampaha, Sri Lanka. Owner of this told me that many peoples ask to buy it. But he wants to keep it there to remember his father.
 Dried coconut pieces are put in to sekkuwa. Then there is a mortar driven by couple of bulls. Coconut oil drain out through the couple of halls on it.

Kalunika (කළුනික)

Kalunika is a plant that many Sri Lankans known by word, But no body have seen it what is real Kalunika. It is very difficult to find and no body knows what is real Kalunika. How do they know about kalunika? According to ancient stories, it is a great medicine. They say it helps to treat dying humans.
One day my mother carry a small plant when she is back from the school. She told me that the eastern doctors believe it is Kalunika. I was wonder and i check it very carefully. Leaves are same as Nika leaves and underneath color was back. Still we have it in our garden in kurunegala. But i found above picture from the internet.
Ok. Those will remain.
I am going to do something else. I am trying to share with you things that Sri Lankans have done and they doing. Many of you have not seen and you have seen but you don't care.
